Today was the art sale at the Castle on the Delaware, in Walton, NY. I am grateful the booth fee was only $20, because I broke even. Unfortunately there wasn’t a lot of traffic. The other vendors mentioned that it could be due to the snow storm we are supposed to get tonight. One vendor said that apparently there wasn’t a lot of foot traffic in Oneonta either.
Some positives from today, a few people were potentially interested in getting a custom portrait. They took a brochure and showed me some photos of portraits that they would be interested in having turned into a custom work of art. So that was exciting.
I made some new vendor friends. One lady was actually the mother of a young lady that attends my works day program. This is definitely a small town/world. Her daughter ended up arriving around lunch time with her adorable dog.
Another positive from today, a group from my work showed up, and a few of them bought some prints. I was grateful to see them and that they loved my work enough to purchase.
Although it wasn’t a busy day full of sales, it was a fun day full of friendships and adorable dogs.
A few other vendors and I ended up wrapping it up early. Since I had a lot of inventory I decided to take my artwork to two shops that stated they would love to display and sell my work.
First stop, Made & Found in Delhi, NY. My friend, Louann, owner of Made & Found, and in the artist of Creative Concrete. Made & Found is a super cute gift shop that has local artist and other unique items. It has a mid century boho, antique-ish feel. It is light and airy. When creating my recent work of art, I had her shop in mind. I wanted to bring her still life digital paintings vs portraiture. I was elated to see her smile as she picked out the different pieces she wanted to host in her shop.
Next stop, Lythik Noir in Oneonta, NY. A shop owned by my friends Morgan and Chelly. Their shop has a much different feel than Made & Found. Their shop has an eclectic collection of art that has a Halloween-ish, arts and oddities feel. This is the perfect shop for my portraiture work. I was thrilled to see amount inventory they wanted to grab for the shop. I am looking forward to hear how my work does at both locations.
Last stop, home. Now I need to go through my inventory and start making more prints for future shows. I also want to create more still-life artwork that would compliment Made & Found.
