I’m having such a great day, thank God. I had a feeling like something special was going to happen. I read somewhere that you can trick your mind by waking up and saying “something amazing is going to happen today” and your brain will try to find things that prove that statement.
Well, my amazing thing was the amount of love I received from my friends on social media. One friend shared a reel of a charcoal drawing I did for her a while back, of Chris Cornell. Her kind words made me feel like a rockstar.
The other amazing thing happened, my friend text me to tell me that one of her friends messaged her a link to my website. He told her to check me out that I was really good. She said to him, “hey, I know her!” That’s a pretty cool feeling to be praised for your work by a stranger. It is a great feeling that you put something out there that has a piece of your soul and it gets love in return.
I had recently rejoined social media to put my artwork back out there instead of only posting on YouTube. I was hesitant to rejoin, because it can have a negative impact on my mental health. However, I have set some ground rules for myself to help reduce the chance of the negative impact.
With that said, I have already received an abundance of love from friends and family. That is the positive side of social media. I also received a few more commissions.
Since working at The Arc of Delaware County as their Community Relations Coordinator, I feel I have learned a lot about using social media from a business stand point. I am taking what I have learned and applying it to my own art business. It has been a week and a great fresh start to social media.
